Resolves to the next state to be admitted to the US; the most recent states to join were Alaska and Hawaii in 1959. Answers do not need to have the same name the state joins under (e.g. "Washington D.C." counts, even if it joins as "Jefferson"). States changing their name or gaining or losing territory (e.g. if some counties from Oregon join Idaho) do not count. I will extend the close date if necessary.
What if there's a compromise that involves two states joining simultaneously? Would you resolve 50% to each?
It’s not going to be DC for sure. That would be require a constitutional amendment. Puerto Rico seams like most likely candidate
@NathanDickson For DC, my understanding is that they would shrink the constitutionally-required capital, and then satisfy the 26th amendment by having Congress choose its electors in a nationally proportional-ish way.
