Resolution criteria
This market resolves YES if Trump is formally charged with any criminal offense(s) related to his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein. This includes charges related to knowledge of, facilitation of, or participation in Epstein's sex trafficking operation or related crimes.
Resolution is based on official court filings or Department of Justice charging documents. The market resolves NO if Trump is never charged with such crimes. The market resolves N/A if Trump dies before any charges are filed.
Background
Trump and Epstein socialized at parties in Palm Beach, Florida, and trips between New York and Florida on Epstein's private jet before Epstein's conviction as a sex offender. No criminal wrongdoing has ever been established against Trump in connection with Epstein's crimes.
The House Oversight Committee released documents including emails from Epstein's estate that refer to Trump. One 2011 email called Trump the "dog that hasn't barked" and said Trump spent "hours at my house" with an alleged sex trafficking victim; another 2019 message stated "of course [Trump] knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop." However, these emails only show Epstein making comments that could be interpreted that way but don't show evidence of Trump knowing about criminal acts.
Trump barred Epstein from Mar-a-Lago after Epstein behaved inappropriately toward a club member's teenage daughter.
Considerations
The Trump Administration terminated a criminal investigation into co-conspirators of Epstein and Maxwell, with efforts to pursue credible leads appearing to halt when Trump came into office. This may affect the likelihood of charges being filed, as active investigations are typically prerequisites for criminal prosecution.
