Context (from 2018): George W. Bush's favorable rating has pulled a complete 180
George W. Bush's favorable rating has grown from 33% to 61% since he left office
Bush holds a majority favorable rating among every demographic group but liberals
Six in 10 Americans, 61%, say they now have a favorable view of the 43rd President of the United States in the latest CNN poll conducted by SSRS, nearly double the 33% who gave him a favorable mark when he left the White House in January 2009.
In the 10 years after George Bush left office, his approval rating soared. Will Trump see a similar boon a decade after his political departure?
Will it be because President MTG makes Donald look like a genius? Will the US history books become so partisan that Trump is taught as a saint?
When/how will this be assessed?
- Trump will need to see similar gains in favorability across all demographics. His approval rating should rise by >=20% in aggregate. Liberals don’t need to necessary approve of him in aggregate, but there still should be gains across leftist groups.
- If Donald Trump’s final political campaign is in the 2024 election, and he loses, this will be assessed in November 2034.
- If Donald Trump’s final political campaign is in the 2024 election, and he wins, this will be assessed in November 2038 (or ten years following his death - if while in office).
- If Donald Trump runs in 2028, this will be pushed back to 2038 (at the earliest).
