ispace is a private spaceflight company. The SERIES 2 lander has been contracted by NASA under the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program to build and fly a lander to the surface of the moon. Their previous attempt to land on the moon, Hakuto-R M1, was not successful. SERIES 2 will be preceeded by Hakuto-R M2, although the missions use a different lander. The SERIES 2 mission should launch in 2025.
For a successful mission the SERIES 2 lander needs to soft-land on the moon, and the payloads on the lander need to be operational.
