Resolution criteria

This market will resolve to "YES" if, before January 1, 2030, the People's Republic of China (PRC) officially appoints an individual to a position titled "Governor of Taiwan" or an equivalent role that asserts administrative authority over Taiwan. Official announcements from the PRC government or state-controlled media will serve as the primary sources for resolution. If no such appointment is made by the specified date, the market will resolve to "NO." Please note that this question does not require Chinese administrative control of Taiwan. A shadow government would also qualify.

Background

The PRC considers Taiwan a part of its territory and has consistently expressed intentions to achieve reunification. (congress.gov) However, Taiwan operates as a self-governing entity with its own political and administrative structures. The PRC has never exercised control over Taiwan, and there is no existing position within the PRC's administrative framework titled "Governor of Taiwan." (en.wikipedia.org)

Considerations

While the PRC has articulated goals for reunification, including potential military preparedness by 2027, (taipeitimes.com) the establishment of a "Governor of Taiwan" would require significant political developments. Traders should monitor official PRC communications and policy changes for indications of such an appointment.
