Background

Helsinki's municipal elections will take place on April 13th, 2025. In the previous municipal elections, the National Coalition Party (Kokoomus) has traditionally performed well in Helsinki. Recent polling suggests that both the National Coalition Party and the Social Democratic Party are in strong positions heading into the 2025 elections.

The Social Democrats have seen an increase in support nationally, while the National Coalition Party benefits from a high turnout of committed voters, which could be advantageous in municipal elections where turnout is typically lower than in parliamentary elections.

The Green League, which has previously held significant support in Helsinki, faces challenges in maintaining its previous levels of support. The Left Alliance and Finns Party also have established voter bases in the capital region, though the Finns Party is expected to see a drop in support compared to previous elections.

Smaller parties like the Swedish People's Party, Centre Party, Christian Democrats, and Movement Now have varying levels of support in Helsinki but are not currently highlighted as frontrunners.

Resolution Criteria

This market will resolve to the party that receives the highest number of votes in the Helsinki municipal elections held on April 13th, 2025, based on the official results published by the Finnish election authorities.

If two parties receive exactly the same number of votes (a tie for first place), the market will resolve to both parties.

If the elections are postponed or canceled, the market will resolve based on the results of the next municipal elections held in Helsinki.
